Ecobank Cote d'Ivoire welcomes the appointment of Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui, an Ivorian, as Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Ecobank Cote d'Ivoire.
This appointment was made at the end of the 142nd session of the Board of Directors held on Tuesday, September 30th, 2020.
Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui joined the Board of Ecobank Cote d'Ivoire as a non-executive director in April 2016 and had been Chairman of the Risk Committee since 2017.
He succeeds Mr. Lassina Coulibaly, whose term of office has expired.
Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui stated: "I am very honored to be appointed as Chairman of Ecobank Côte d'Ivoire. I am committed to working actively with the entire Board of Directors and in close collaboration with the management team to achieve the Bank's ambitious objectives. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to my predecessor, Mr. Lassina Coulibaly, for the leadership and professionalism he has always shown during his term, and to wish him all the best for the future. ”
Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui is the managing partner of a management consulting firm, Analytiks West Africa, which he founded in March 2013, based in Cote d'Ivoire. In the past, he held senior positions in international corporations. Between 2004 and 2011, he was Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Strategy Officer of the Atlantic Telecom Group (a subsidiary of Etisalat, United Arab Emirates). Previously, from 1995 to 2004, he held the positions of Accounting and Financial Director of the Unilever Francophone West Africa Group. Between 1989 and 1995, he was Controller of Management at Unilever in Cote d'Ivoire and at Unilever PLC in London.
Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (Option Finance) from Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania, USA) obtained in 1984 and is a graduate from HEC Paris, class 1981.
Mr. Paul-Harry Aithnard, Managing Director of Ecobank Cote d'Ivoire, speaking to the new and outgoing Chairman, said: "I would like to begin by paying a heartfelt tribute to our outgoing President, Mr. Lassina Coulibaly, to whom I express, on behalf of the Executive Management, our immense admiration for the invaluable advice, strategic expertise and oversight that he has so willingly provided during his term. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome on board our new Chairman, Mr. Michel Aka-Anghui, who has served on the Board for the past four years with an excellent knowledge of the subsidiary.
