Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating the location HS Managers/Location HS Coordinators
- Managing the Country HS Top Page
- Implementing Global HS and Local regulatory programs to assure compliance.
- Linking the Regional HS Strategy to the country and site activities assuring alignment
- Ensure HS training is aligned with HSMS and local regulatory requirements and is conducted at site level
- Ensure operational implementation of Global HSMS and local regulatory requirements through use of global assessment tools and auditing/assurance processes.
- Ensure effective integration of acquisitions regarding HS compliance through the mergers and acquisition process.
- Ensure reporting and management of HS related incidents, near misses, hazards and best practices in accordance with group expectations.
- Managing country quality systems and support business on certification process.
- Ensure quality efficiency for businesses.
Specific Responsibilities
- STRATEGIC PLANNING
Identifying, planning, recommending and completing HSE programs in accordance following the (sub-) regional HS strategy and corresponding business strategies.
- ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT
Build up and develop country HSE organization (both direct reporting if the country size indicates it and functional incl. structuring and qualifying) to properly implement the Country HSE strategy. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge in HS by proper best-practice-sharing concepts, which includes identifying and working on best practices within SGS as well as from outside sources (others companies, trade fairs, external workgroups, etc.) and proactive sharing within the Country / Regional SGS HS organization.
- COMPLIANCE incl. AUDITING
Implement and assess the status of regional and country specific policies and standards
Assessing the implementation status and legal compliance by corresponding audits covering safety, environment and fire / explosion protection topics.
- PROJECT SUPPORT
Assuring that project support is given to the local organization to cover EHS aspects: e.g. during plant expansions, new equipment, new processes, new project or business etc.
- COMMUNICATION and NETWORK
Assuring the Reporting of HSE relevant items such as incidents, near misses, current issues towards the country / regional HS organization.
Active participation in SGS wide safely and environmental activities including projects, best practice sharing and strategic planning
- SPECIALIST / CONSULTANT (SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT SME)
To be involved on any related SME issue, business
- OTHER TASKS
Other reasonable tasks can be assigned to the job holder to support the overall HS strategy.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in an QHSE related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in in a similar role, ideally gained in a multinational or international group in the mining or oil & gas sector.
- QHSE certification preferred.
- Fluent in english
- Ability to understand and explain technical (HSE specific) topics for all levels of personnel
- Ability to understand the Country and site contributions to Regional HS Performance and capability to use existing tools; prioritizing risks and influencing factors
- Ability to manage a remote team
- Ability to influence without direct reporting lines
- Ability to evaluate the accuracy of root cause analysis and the effectiveness of proposed solutions
- Sufficient knowledge of English to communicate with the Regional HS Manager and to understand Global HS Communications
- Good knowledge of industrial hygiene
- Good knowledge of chemicals
