Mövenpick Hotel announces the opening of its 5-star establishment in Abidjan

The Swiss brand Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts announces the opening of its 5-star establishment in Abidjan on December 28th. Located in Plateau, the business center of the Ivorian economic capital, the infrastructure will be inaugurated a little more than three years after the beginning of the construction, in October 2017.

The high-end 7-story complex has 160 rooms with a total area of over 14,000 m². Of an initially announced investment of 58 million euros, or about 38 billion CFA francs, it was initiated by the company Saprim of the businessman Abdul Kassam, founder of the group Prosuma active in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). Some of the partners in the Bouygues Construction project and the CNPS, sources indicate.

Launched in 1973, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is an upscale hotel chain with 82 properties, totaling 20,000 rooms in 24 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. On this last continent, the brand has 26 hotels, including 17 in Egypt, 4 in Tunisia, 3 in Morocco and 1 in Kenya and Ghana.

In 2018, the chain was bought by the French group Accor.
