While Huawei was Sonatel's technical partner for its first experiments with 5G in Senegal, Nokia is strengthening its presence in Togo, where Togocom launched the implementation of the ultimate telecommunications.

The Finnish group announced on November 30th that it had reached an agreement with Togocom to deploy 5G across the country. The deal also includes the strengthening of existing networks (2G, 3G and 4G) as well as the upgrading of infrastructure "for the next generation of digital services for Togolese citizens", the group noted in its statement.

Over the next three years, Nokia will support the Togolese market leader to meet the quality and reliability requirements of subscribers for a technology whose throughput is up to 100 times that of 4G.

"Nokia's solution allows Togocom to better manage the growing number of subscribers and devices, as well as to provide a high-performance network that is the demand of LTE / 5G networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) " points out the company.

"We are delighted to continue our long-standing and successful partnership with Togocom by helping them become the first mobile operator in West Africa to provide 5G commercial services to their subscribers. Togocom has ambitious plans for 5G and we are proud of our collaboration with the operator to bring incredible connectivity to its customers as we enter the era of 5G," said Pierre Chaume, Vice President North and West Africa at Nokia.
